Calgary Zoo - Winter Edition

If you are interested, I wrote another post earlier this year about my summer visit to the zoo - you can access it here: Calgary Staycation - The Zoo.

Mid-December brings Zoo lights! My first introduction to this phenomenon was back in 2017 in Moncton, New Brunswick. They also have continued the tradition and if you are from there, you can find info on Magnetic Hill Zoo - Wild Lights 2024. Below are a few photos from back then (2017), when I went with my wonderful friend Sophie Cormier!

On December 8, 2024, Heather, Taryn and I went for dinner at Masala Lounge & Grill, to fill our tummies of good, hot, spicy food before wandering around the chilly Calgary Zoo. There are lots of things to do there besides looking at lights, including skating, riding the carousel or renting out one of their Snow Globes. More info on Calgary Zoolights can be found here: https://www.calgaryzoo.com/zoolights/.

View of the zoo lights from the bridge over the Bow River.

My two favourite shots from this year were this one (below, left) of my lovely friends Heather and Taryn looking up at the β€˜bee tree’, and (right) the camel (of course).

It was an incredible evening. If you have a similar tradition, share in the comments below your favourite Zoo Lights experience, or tell me which of the images above you liked the best!

Happy Holidays! πŸ˜πŸ¦•πŸͺ🦩
