Earth Love

Today, I watched the final episode hosted by David Suzuki of ‘The Nature of Things’. What a great show! I started watching this program in the 60s on our old black and white tv. I have been dramatically influenced by the issues he shared over the years. As a Canadian who flourished in the rain forest of northern British Columbia, my love of nature seems innate. I have had the privilege of standing with one foot in the Arctic and another in the desert. I have travelled the vast oceans and worked with Indigenous peoples across the globe, and I find it astonishing that in this day and age we are still fighting governments in Canada to transition away from fossil fuels for the sake of the planet. I have watched the garbage patch grow in the Pacific Ocean, and seen desertification devastate communities in the Sahel, and I wonder why so many people are willing to continue to ignore the face of the climate crisis.

David Suzuki interviews Neil Young in this episode about his new song ‘Love Earth’. Both the music and the message moved me to write this.

Stay tuned for more meanderings…
