Northern Thailand Traditional Life

Part II - Farming and Fishing

Away from the major cities in Northeastern Thailand I had the opportunity to experience traditional farming and fishing.

We visited a buffalo herd farm near Phayao, that keeps several herds. The animals are let out during the day, but make their own way back to the stables in the evening.

Water Buffalo

Near Chiang Kham along the Ing River we met with a bunch of locals who were fishing traditionally. The nets were fascinating. It was a very convivial time, everyone was joking and laughing. There were also lots of chickens and dogs running around. It was a lovely experience.

You can see a short video of the fishing here.

Part I - Pottery and Dancing can be found here.

Thanks to the people of Thailand who shared their culture with me!
