Top Blog Posts of 2024

I started casually writing this blog in 2023 - more as a means of getting some thoughts down on paper than anything else! I only wanted an outlet to release some pressure and be able to focus on something outside of work. It wasn’t until mid-2024 that I decided I would try to write more frequently. I have travelled extensively throughout my life/career(s) and am grateful for every opportunity I had to meet new people and experience other cultures. Many friends have encouraged me over the years to write a travel blog. I thought I would give it a try, as I was planning for my trip to Southeast Asia in the autumn of 2024.

Writing helps me recall my past, plan for my future and record my present. I hope that if this post brought you here, you might take a moment or two to peruse some of my other notes. I am always pleased when someone leaves a comment - at least it tells me someone read it!

My main goal is just to capture my thoughts, and if anyone enjoys my meanderings than that is wonderful. As the New Year starts I am wishing you all an amazing year. Perhaps this is the year you pick up a pen, a paintbrush or camera and start to share your thoughts as well. If you do, send me a note and I will check it out. πŸ–‹οΈπŸ–ŒοΈπŸŽ¨πŸ“·

My top post for 2024 was β€˜Archaeology is a professional job’.

This was the share on Twitter back in July - you can see it did not get so many likes, but for 2024 it had the most page views of any blog post on my website at a whopping 77! LOL πŸ˜†

Not surprisingly (to me at least) my next two most-read posts were about Egypt, β€˜A History of Egyptian Species at Risk’ and β€˜19th century travel in Egypt’. The most visited blog post about my recent trip to Vietnam and Thailand was β€˜Discovering Bat Trang Pottery Village’. Feel free to check them out.

I have been writing the occasional book review, a column called My Two Cents (probably obvious what that is about), some travel posts and sharing some of my tea blends. Although I’m writing primarily for myself, if there is a topic you would like to see (that is in my wheelhouse), please let me know.

FYI my top FLICKR image this year was this shot of an amazing mural in Ninh Binh, Vietnam. I hope you like it.

May you have an amazing and inspirational New Year! πŸŽ†πŸΎ
